An online auction will run from March 1st - March 10th prior to the event at:, (Highest bids transfer to live auction)

The live silent auction will be held from 6:00pm to 9:00pm on March 12th at Astro Lab. All are invited to come even if you do not plan to bid on auction items! Come and enjoy craft beer from Silver Spring's newest brewery.

The first $5,000 raised for the auction will be allocated to the longterm fundraising goal of a recess field shade canopy.  Additional funds raised will be allocated to the general fund.

We seek donations from parents and businesses for the silent auction:

  • Do you have a gift or talent you could donate? (guitar or knitting lessons, a handmade item, vacation time share, baby sitting service, etc.)
  • Does your business or neighbor’s business have something to offer? (a gift certificate for goods or services, sporting tickets, etc.)
  • Do you frequent a local business that might be willing to donate? (hair or nail salon, kids classes, gym, etc.)

If you answered yes to any of those questions, fill-out the online donation form, or download an auction donation form, so that you can ask your neighbors and local businesses to support our Sligo Creek students.

Sligo Creek Read-A-Thon 2018

The 2018 Read-a-Thon raised $6,185.72. Money raised from this event has been allocated to ongoing projects, primarily the Outdoor Classroom.

Funding & Fundraising

We began this project with $0 in the bank. Through our Supper Clubs and family donations, we’ve been able to raise nearly $6,000. Our plan is to seek donations from local businesses, apply for grants, and continue to do our Supper Club fundraisers with a goal of raising $10,000 this year.

Send a check made payable to the Sligo Creek Education Foundation to 500 Schuyler Drive, Silver Spring, MD 20910 or send an envelope to school marked "Education Foundation."

All donations are gifts made voluntarily to Sligo Creek Education Foundation, a 501( c )(3) charity, with no conditions. Donors receive a tax receipt from Sligo Creek Education Foundation at the time of the donation. Donors who request refunds may not be eligible for tax deductions on their refunded donations.

What does a donation support?

We welcome donations of any size! Every little bit helps us provide special opportunities and enrichment for students and teachers at Sligo Creek Elementary School. Our goal is to raise $10,000 this year by applying for grants, seeking donations from local businesses, our Supper Club fundraisers and donations from families. 

This year we are trying to raise money to support these projects (and hopefully more!):

$1200 to support a new student run Newspaper Club

$6500 to support the Outdoor Classroom

Plus additional programming TBD
